This is my laptop as its about 2 years old and its pretty crappy .
HP Pavilion dv6646us Entertainment notebook If anyone could
help me find me a better laptop with good performance and
graphics and a wider screen of 16-18 in. My budget
is about 1k .

Firstly, are you sure you need a laptop? If the system stays at home mainly, it would probably be in your best interest to get a desktop.

Quickly throwing together a 1k build (with monitor, keyboard, mouse):
