So i have a dlink dir-655. We have 4 computers at home, and all 4 are allocated with the same IP. Is there a way to assign the first computer a different IP? So only 2-4 have the same IP and the 1st one have a different IP.

Unless you have 2 different physical connections to the internet, no. Your only hope will be to use a proxy or something.

This is incorrect.

Sometimes ISPs will assign you a second IP address for an extra fee... Or maybe even for free if you can explain to them why you want a second IP.

Local IPs, (e.g., 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3 etc) or global IPs?

I believe they are called External IP's.
When you reformat your internal IP may change, but your external IP wouldn't change unless your ISP does it...

I'm not sure why you would want to do this, but you would most likely have to talk to your ISP and pay a fee.

Right, couldn't recall the word I was looking for.

Yes the External IP is the same (E.G 66.249.68.86).
But the Internal IP's must be different (E.G 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3)

The internal IP's are given by the router and depend on its configuration, the external IP should be always the same, as iTz SWAT stated Smile

or setup a router with nat support(or setup a system that'll be on 24hours a day with 2 nics and setup for ics ) , let that get the IP, and attach the other systems to that device

Your computers should normally have different IP's no matter what the circumstances are...

Every computer has a different Internal IP, but your whole network has the same external IP.
To prove my point to the dumb ass, go to www.cmyip.com on computer 1, now go on computer 2 and go to www.cmyip.com, and see if the IP is the same... If they are the same then I'm correct, the external IP is the same through out that local network...
