- MOBO: Gigabyte EP45-UD3P $184
- CPU: Intel Quad Core Q9550 $335
- GPU: ATI 1GB 4890 Gigabyte $309
- RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 1066MHz Kingston $89
- HDD: Seagate SATA 500GB $71
- PSU: Vantec ION2+ 600W $95
- Case: Antec 1200 $292
My real concern here is compatibility between the parts; will this work together fine, and will the 1200's fans be enough?

IMO I think you shouldnt get the antec 1200. Way to expensive. Get a 300

They all fit.
The case is a bit pricey I have to admit. The Antec 902 looks the same, and is a bit cheaper.
Also consider a CPU Cooler... Great for keeping your Processor cool and possible overclocking.
What shop are you going to? I too live in Australia.
I bought my parts for my PC from MSY, I heard Xpmicro is good aswell. They sell Corsair... MMMMmmmmm..... Yummmyyy
If you go to MSY, then get the XFX 4890, it's $285 and it's XFX lol.
Personally I prefer Western Digital, I bought a Seagate 1TB, next next day it fucked up, so I return it and get a replacement 1TB WD and it worked perfectly. I've always liked WD and can't believe I was stupid enough not to wait the 3 day's for WD to ship in...
Another thing is wtf is Vantec... i'd go with a better brand...
Coolermaster Extreme Power+ 600 / 650 94 / 105 is a better option.

Ah, that's actually a great idea and it should fit the motherboard fine, but again, will those fans be enough?

Yeah, I'm getting from MSY as I too live in Australia.
Glad to know they all fit, and do you believe a CPU cooler would be a necessity for the processor as stock? I'm strongly considering the 300 now and I believe it doesn't have a cooler of its own specifically for the CPU.
Edit (after reading iTz SWAT's edit): I'll take your word on the Seagate vs. WD and get the 640GB WD. Also, my current computer has some great still working Gigabyte parts from 2 years ago so I didn't bother looking up XFX vs. Gigabyte but apparently XFX is worth it, so I'll take your advice on that as well. Lastly, I've read bad stories about the Coolermasters and many positive ones about the Vantec ION2+ so I'll stick to that. Thanks for the advice.

I just got a 902, and although it might be a bit smaller than i hoped, i have similar parts as you and it will cool very well with stock fans and 902 has easy cable management. so i'd reccomend getting a 902 if you can find a good price on it.

Also if you don't have a 22 inch monitor or large i would recommend a 512mb version.

The Q9550 isn't priceworthy.
If you live in US I could fix up a alot btr build for your money.
Just tell me where you live and what your budget is and what your going to use it for AND what resulution your using.

Honestly if you don't mind paying the money, go for the Antec 900.
I remember building a PC with that case and it was somewhat cramped, however the great ventilation made up for it. I remember I had to move one of his drives to fit that GTX 260 he wanted in there.
I think it wouldn't be a bad idea and get a full size case.
You should also consider getting the Thermaltake Armor/Armor+ if the MSY you're going to have it. They have plenty of room and pretty good cooling. I own a armor myself.
