|
|
With Windows 7 coming this October, Microsoft has decided to make a special version of Windows 7 for European users dubbed version E.
Windows 7 E will not come with Internet Explorer! Yay!!!!!!
Windows 7 E will not come with any sort of browser at all and it's up to
system builder to install a browser for their customers. Home user can also do it themselves where MS has made IE in a easy to install manner.
In other news, the EU thinks MS removing IE with its OS isnt' good enough and is looking at other ways to charge the RedMond software giant.
go EU!

Are there any other differences between the "normal" Windows 7 and this?

He got it abit wrong, its not really a special version.
Its just the thing that EU like sued them because they included IE so
microsoft doesn't include IE in the next Win7 but this is only in europe because of EU.

Why is it wrong?
It's "special" cause non European countries isn't going to have it nor are they bother going to get it.
As for removing IE with Euro's version of Windows 7 is all down to antitrust. Saying bundling IE is an unfair competition to other 3rd party browsers (like what Real Player did back in the old days).
Opera browser started this whole mess.
Windows 7 E does not include Internet Explorer.

That's the only difference?
I'm quite sure that Windows 7 users have the option to uninstall Internet Explorer.

But they would be bundling all the other browsers but IE, that is the same thing but the tables turned.
Any way you try to make it seem right, it just isn't right in anyways.

I know that, maybe I'm not clear enough or you just don't understand.
MS bundles IE with their OS.
EU says it violates antitirust rules as IE brings an unfair competition to other 3rd party browsers.
EU fines MS for bundling IE
MS removes IE for Euro versions of Win7
EU wants MS to give users choice by having 3rd party browsers included in the OS.
MS says screw you
Euro version gets no browsers
The people will install a browser of their choice whether it's IE or something else.
IF IE was not bundle with the OS and people still install it anyway then it does not violate antitrust as it's the user who decided to use it not MS forcing users to have it.
Also Apple bundles Safari with their OS and their not getting fined by the EU and their OS are tied to their hardware.
