Recently I bought some kick-ass computers with just one downside. 512MB RAM each. But then my friend told me about something called Virtual Memory, using disk space as RAM so I just wanted to ask a couple of questions;
1. Does this even work?
3. If I have a 32bit OS would it be alright for me to put more than 4092 as my max?
2. Would this work on Windows Server 2008?

1. Yes
2. Yes, 3GB and PAE switches
It's on by default and it is retarded to turn off, despite what you hear.

The max you can do is 4092 mb in size but it is slower than real RAM.
Just google on how to change your pagefile size.

So far, so good but the more I read up on it seems like instead of helping it will just be dragging me down.
The reason I am doing this is to help make my computer faster but it seems it will make it even slower.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Whats the model of your computer? So I could tell you what ram you can get to upgrade to like 2gb, its relatively cheap.

Page file is more of a "just when you need it" kind of thing. When your system runs out of dedicated RAM, it'll move onto page file to store them.
I don't really see the problem in turning on page file. But, if you do manage to run through all the system RAM (which will be especially likely with a system running on 512MB), the page file's much, much higher latencies could slow things down. But it's for a good cause, right?
4GB of page file would be, realistically, too much. Compared to the system RAM, an 8:1 ratio is pushing it. That's being general though; I have mines set at 1:1 to 2:1. Performance gains would be negligible.

Useless, laff.
1. It prevents your system from going up in flames when you run out of RAM, which is more possible than you think, even with 2gb+.
2. It saves you RAM because unused shit gets moved to it. Go enable the page faults column in task manager and proceed to shit yourself at how much it gets used.
3. Lucky for you that newer versions of Windows (7 especially) are becoming more aggressive with memory to try and keep it off the HD and prevent it from thrashing. Too bad people will probably cry OH NO IT'S USING SO MUCH OF MY RAAAAAM
