Hey guyz,
I might be building a computer soon and have a limit of approximately $2000AUD, can go a little higher bu prefer not to.
Must have: Core i7, X58 Mobo, 12GB RAM, Blu Ray Writer, Nvidia GPU(willing to see ATI comparisons) , Modular PSU, CPU Cooler to make i7 920 OC to 3.0Ghz and stll run cool, 1TB HDD.
2 Shops I can go to are http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf and http://www.xpmicro.com.au/cgi-bin/xpmicro
I quickly built:
MSY
==========================
Core i7 920 $399
G-B EX58 UD3R $289
W.D SATA 1TB $124
LG SATA Blu-Ray Writer $235
Cosmos S RC1100 $353
XPMICRO
==========================
"NEW! Corsair TR3X6G1333C9 6GB (3x XMS3 2GB) PC-10600 (1333MHz) XMP DDR3 RAM, 32x240-pin DIMMs, Triple Kit, Non ECC Unbuffered, TR3X6G1333C9 $165.0
What do you guys think?
P.S I know that build is missing a CPU Cooler, GPU, Modular PSU...
Thanks for your help.

tbh you do not need 12gb of ram no matter what you say, 6gb or over is just over kill.

I know that's true, but I want the best I can get for $2000AUD, If you want you can add GB instead of 12. But I'd like 12GB.
I'm going to be running on 1920*1080/1680*1050 and occasionally 2560*1600. Therefore I'd like a really high end GPU.

an ati 4890 or a gtx 295
and a 32gb ssd for os and a 1tb hdd for storage

I'd rather wait a few more months for the preformance results from Lynnfield compared to i7.

12 Gig's is useless. What are you doing? you probably need like at maximum 8 gigs? i only have 4 and it runs pretty nice.

The forum died D:
