Hi there,
Are there ways available to my computer that allows a LCD (1280*800) to display more than that number of pixels, for example 1440*900, scaled?
The current NVIDIA control panel "allows modes not exposed by the display".
Any custom resolution larger than 1280*800 can only be displayed without scaling.
Any custom resolution smaller than 1280*800 can be displayed with scaling.
Information that might help:
- Device name: Lenovo
- Device form factor: Laptop
- Windows XP SP3 (latest)
- NVIDIA drivers file version: 6.14.11.0128 (latest)
- NVIDIA control panel version: 1.4.13.08
- The actual GPU: GeForce 8400M GS, discrete
- Video BIOS version: 60.86.60.00.26
- DirectX Version: 9.0c
- Display panel: TFT LCD, 1280*800 hardware pixels, framed

Monitors do have a maximum resolution...
Just try updating your GPU Drivers to the latest version...

My max custom resolution is 2048*1536 and since it is bigger than 1280*800, it PC wrote: | can only be displayed without scaling. |

A pixel is a pixel on a LCD, 1280x800 is the max, period.

I agree with the bolded part, but I'm sure the panel can display more than so many pixels with scaling.
My other laptop can display a 2048*1536 screen on its 1024*768 panel using scaling. NVIDIA card. The contents are blurry of course, but that's what I'm looking for.
Another example would be the first generation eee pc having software that forces its 800*480 panel to display 1024*? pixels by scaling the contents.
The eee pc software I mentioned above does not work with my machine.
I'm sure it CAN be done with my machine, but just not sure how.
