| Does anyone know how VMWare gets input from the keyboard and mouse? I was thinking of macro programs but once your input is inside the virtual machine, the mouse events and keyboard events don't work.

Sorry, dunno.
Did find this though, http://stuff.mit.edu/afs/sipb/project/vmdialup/lib/vmware-console/help/server/grab.htm
But um, couldn't you just run the program from inside your Virtual Machine in the first place to avoid the problem?
I think a certain key combination switches the input focus to the virtual machine, you could try that, although I dont think you'd be able to switch back out. Idk. maybe

| I wanted to do a macro and then do input into the vmware, simple and easy, so i just used and simple macro program but it wouldn't work once the os in the virtual machine was in focus, so I wanted to know how vmware got focus from the os, useful for doing repetitive tasks.

Ctrl-Alt-Enter sends input to the virtual machine and places it in full-screen mode.
Ctrl-Alt releases input from the virtual machine and returns it to window mode.
might help
