To the non-techheads, it's some type of hardware based antivirus mechanism build right onto the cpu to prevent malicious programs from harming your system.
In reality it's not a antivirus at all and users still need to install a real AV program to truly protect their systems.
The real term for that feature is to prevent buffer overflow attacks.
There are options:
1.Disable the protection under bios
2. Add the program you want to run in the DEP list located under Advanced in Computer Properties.
Background
IMHO it's better to leave it on as I've downloaded a clip once and the my proc. prevent it from playing as it was embedded with malicious codes.
Disabling that feature and the clip plays, but after that the PC started acting up.
