Depends, however I haven't had luck with flash MMOs and there is a low chance of success D:

I would go with java because of its 0% Hacking chance and it also makes for a good 3D engine

cry engine , from the creators of crysis

its aroung 7000$ too

also 3Ds max commercial license is 4000$

(( I have an educational licence , just 100$ ))

but thats for 3D games

you can make 2D games with flash or directly with java

and they are not really expensive

C++ is probably the best for an advanced MMO...

Dont start making an MMO, unless you've at least coded a few applications, and single player games. You also need to learn networking...

Ive got to admit Java, is pretty good nowadays. I mean, look at runescape.

LOL are you kidding?

$800,000 maybe.

CryEngine is over a million at least.

Yes, they often cut deals to indie devs, but $8000 is hilarious.

However, you're free to mod it to your delight (and as such, put it out for free). Both engines basically expose all the code except the more low level stuff, like rendering, etc.

I dont know about Flash MMO's because it would be weird.

I'd go with Java but it really depends on a hell of alot of things.
