I have the Radeon 4850, I'm pleased. I play GTA 4 fine with settings on medium, no lag at all. With high, a little lag at times.

9800GTX+ > HD 4850 by a bit. You should look for the GTS 250, the same performance (very slightly faster) for a lower price, as well as a few other new features such as a redesigned PCB (shorter) and decreased power draw.

Ah thanks for the 250 tip superweapons, though, for the 250, how will it handle crysis, on say all very high settings no AA.

At 1024x768, it should get around 50FPS, maybe 45. Expect about 40-35FPS average at 1280x1024.
IMO Crysis is playable until around ~20FPS.

HD4850 is wayyyyy more cheaper, well here at least, and the performance difference between those two isn't much, so I picked HD4850. Altho I still would prefer Forceware over Catalyst, but money talks.
And other ppl, just turn AF/AA off/lower and you may have maxium settings with eg. 1280x1024.

Weird, all of the posts you make that say nvidia vs ati, you always say you're a nvidia fan but yet you choose the Ati card..

Based on this review, the 9800GTX+ is, on average, 6-7% faster than the HD 4850 across all games. The 9800GTX+ also overclocked better, almost 18% compared to the 10% with the HD 4850. Temperatures were also better with the 9800GTX+, but I'm sure the HD 4850's with dual slot coolers would close the gap. Power consumption under load was slightly less with the 9800GTX+, but the HD 4850 had an advantage while idling.

Don't trust that review 90% of all review I've read 4850 is better.
ANd on reallife tries I also find 4850 better.
Both card is good but 4850 is better in 90% of all games out there.
