If you didn't have it long and it's under warranty go and replace it.
Try this...
Remove battery, plug in the AC adapter to your laptop and try again.

Maybe your AC adapter is faulty, do you see it charge?

Added to theirs, your laptop should have a battery indicator light somewhere on the laptop.
Check that light too.

Does the power go completely off once you turn it on or does the lights stay on with a black screen?

Ok, try this
Remove the battery and the AC plug from the laptop (there should be no power on the laptop). Then hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. Then put the ac back but leave the battery out and turn the laptop on and see what happens.

i tried it 2 ways
1.took out both and held it for 30 sec and put the ac in while still holding the power button
2. did the same thing only let go of the power button, put the ac back in and turned it on
None worked

its prob wiring inside the laptop or your screen is broken.... once on my laptop i had the same thing the backlight on the screen broke so i coudlnt see anything on the screen but the laptop worked fine... try connecting the laptop to your TV or a desktop monitor and see if something shows up if it does than you need to send your laptop in and have them replace the screen
EDIT: before you send it in make sure you have like $100-200 to pay for it... HP gave me a free screen because it was under warranty but charged $140 for labor -.- ... i know BS

Ok, then it' seems to be a problem with your motherboard. If you're still in warranty I suggest you contact your laptops support center to have it repaired or replaced.

Some situations might create this issue. Like for instance if your laptop got bad airflow and a high temperature it might shut down and refuse to start again for a couple of minutes. Happend to me. xD
