My 2nd system was working fine today in the morning and I turned it off properly, but after I came back from work and turned the system back on, XP will not load and it goes in a loop displaying me an error message saying XP was not properly shutdown with a list of choices: Safemode, last know good, etc.
So I inserted my XP disc knew what it might be, the file system for my C:\ is corrupted! I let the CD do its stuff and right at the "select which drive to install" my gut feeling was right, C:\ files system is no more and my drive is totally empty (Instead of displaying NTFS is says Unknown)
Not to worry at that moment (of course most people would be screaming and shouting), but there is a simple fix. I turned off the system took the HD out and plug it to my main comp. The OS from the main comp. sees the corrupted drive and automatically fixes it. After logging to my primary system, the corrupted file got fixed and all the contents on the C:\ for my 2nd comp. was recovered (C:\ now displays its file system as NTFS).
Alright I thought (should not be too happy that early), took the drive back to where it belongs and plug it in.
XP starts and automatically runs a scandisk with the results displaying "4KB in bad sectors" and BAM!
BSOD: STOP C000021a: Unknown Hard Error.
I restarted the system and same thing: scandisk follow by that BSOD.
I've then took a spared HD, clone the entire contents from my old C:\ to the new drive and install the new HD (thinking my HDD is bad due to bad sectors), but that was not it. Scandisk did not run, but the BSOD still appears.
Went online to find a solution and found out STOP Error: C000021a is just a generic code Microsoft Uses which leads to a bunch of reasons that causes it. Some will have the error with a detail description like
STOP C000021a: Winlogin failed or STOP C000021a: CRSS.exe cannot load blah blah blah. As for me all I get is STOP: C000021a: Unknown Hard Error
other solutions I've tried out...
1. Try Safemode-Nada
2. Last Know Good Configuration-didn't do shit
3. Repair (you don't loose any personal settings/files/programs)-No progress
4. Try switching my SATA data and power cable-no help
What I've notice was a few seconds before the BSOD, my HDD will rev up, make a loud click noise at the BSOD and rev back down.
It almost sound like jet engine preparing for take off, choke on some hairball and the engine just dies or something.
Please help for any other solutions you guys may think off.
Many thanks and appreciations! |
