Should be just plugin and play.
You might need to setup so you got the same netgroup.

How to change the workgroups?
Go to Control Panel > System or hit Windows Key + Pause.
If you're using XP, go to the Computer Name tab and then click Change.
Make the two computers have the same thing in the workgroup field.
For Vista, it's simpler, something in System itself.

Now if you want to enable file sharing and get all that set up, you're going to have to say what OS you've got, since I don't feel like typing too much. Razz

XP:
Go to a folder, right click > Properties.
Sharing tab, under Network Sharing and Security, click to enable file sharing (if it's not already enabled).

Vista has a few more steps. Basically go in Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center and the options should be somewhat intuitive. Note that some folders won't automatically be able to be accessed from the XP computer, so make a directory like C:\Share or something.

Vista has a password protected sharing turned on by default. In order for your XP to see your Vista, you must create a password for your user account on your Vista laptop. Then all you have to do is (from your XP laptop) open up My network place and click on your Vista laptop and it will ask you for user name a password.

If there is no password, you must disable password protecting sharing through the Network and Sharing Center.
