We started off by removing the screws securing the back panel in place to reveal the inside of this glorious machine. That floppy drive you see is the best on the market. It’s the ultimate floppy media device.
Portable battery operated speakers
Before I continue on, I thought it was worthwhile to show you all the amazing speakers that came along with the computer. How could anyone live without a set of these? This stereo set of speakers comes fully equipped to be used at any time of the day, with or without power. Simply pop in 3 “D” batteries in each speaker and you have the ultimate portable music device!
Honestly, who designed these speakers? They are pure genius. I mean, who cares that there isn’t any power to operate the actual computer, having functional speakers is all the matters!
Moving on, I got right into the computer to checkout what was inside. And boy, what a surprise it was!
The hard drive on the left truly is the “brain” of the computer. This beast has the capacity to hold a huge 1.6GB of data. Why have an ultra portable USB memory stick when you can have one of these bad boys?
If having a huge 1.6GB Caviar isn’t enough for you, why not install a secondary hard drive? On the right we have a cool Quantum Sirocco from the Quantum series.
Caught in the middle of all the drama, you’ll see a quality CD-Rom drive from the best of the best, Sony. Reads at speeds of up to 52x.
Of course we can’t forget the RAM. There were a total of six sticks of RAM in the computer. Six! Surely there should be quite a lot of RAM there, right? Yep, you’re looking at a total of 57 megabytes of RAM. That comes out to a rough average of 9.5 megabytes of RAM in each stick. Jealous?
Intel Pentium
know what you’re thinking. This can’t be true, surely, this is all just a dream. I was thinking the same thing. But matters only got even more surreal when beneath all the wires and cables, lay a beautiful Intel Pentium CPU.
This baby runs at a whopping 133Mhz! The CPU is fixed with an ultra cooling fan allowing the CPU to potentially be overclocked to almost 1000 times its original speed.
It’s just a few hours since I found this computer and I still am a little shocked. I thought about where the computer came from and how it got onto the side of the street. Finally, I concluded, that something like this could only come from heaven…
