So I am a big fan of TF2 and i used to run it fine @ all high and 0x AA @ 1680x 1050, with an 8600
But the game started to run quite laggy in more populated servers so i bought a 4850, and cranked it up to all high 2xAA 4x AF and it works great but i often have slowdowns and i often have slowdowns... It runs every other game perfect (Left 4 dead, Fallout 3 on ultra @ 1440x900) but tf2 is just bad :/
I thought it may be an overheating issue but my card runs @ 40C idle and i ran a program and the max temp it got to was about 65C.
Is there some things in the CCC that may help ( without ruining image quality)?

I don't know, are you sure it's lag from video intensity? The game is pretty old, could it be the server or your computer having malware?

1. Did you even bother cleaning the Nvidia drivers? If not, that's probably your problem. At the very least make sure you clean EVERYTHING; a reformat is ideal.
2. You can try changing host_thread_mode, and mat_queue_mode to enable the multi-core optimizations, but stability might go down the shitter. It's not officially supported in that revision of the engine, like it is in Left 4 Dead... but Valve has stated they will bring it over eventually...
3. You can also take a gander at mat_dxlevel, and try setting it to 90, or 95. (or even 98 if you're on vista with DX10 hardware)
