Hey. I have a duallboot of windows XP and windows 7. I had XP installed first, and I then made a new partition and put Windows 7 on it. Everything is working fine, except for the fact that now my XP partition needs reformatting. If I reformat my XP partition now, will I still be able to boot into windows 7? Like, would I still have a choice after booting of Earlier version of windows(XP) and Windows 7?

It'll overwrite the MBR and boot straight to XP if you reinstall XP.

I don't know why your XP partition needs to be reformatting, though. Confused
What happened?

You should be able to go into recovery mode from the Windows 7 DVD or setup. EasyBCD is a great tool (can be used on XP too, with .NET 2.0 installed).

Shouldn't you know? Remember? The virus?

Thanks. I'll try it after I reformat.

Should I have any problems, I'll be on my other computer.[/quote]

Oh yeah. So you could never get rid of hit, huh. Documentation on that piece of malware was poor. Also, yeah. EasyBCD is a great tool.

You need to have .NET Framework 2.0 installed to run/install EasyBCD.

If you have your HDD partioned and you reformat one, it shouldn't be any problem that would affect the partioned part. I didn't have any problems when I partioned my drive and then reformatted the one with windows on it.

The problem here is, when I reformatted and reinstalled XP, I no longer get a screen asking me what version of windows to boot to; it boots straight to XP.
