Alternative ways of formating a computer?

My friend asked me to format his pc, but when the computer starts you dont see the system tests and you cant boot from cd... Any alternative way of formating it or how to make that appear?

Use the BIOS to change the boot sequence so your CD-ROM drive is first.

You mean you don't see BIOS? o-o
You could either check out what revision he has on the motherboard or that comes with the OEM and randomly try hotkeys. Or plug it into another computer, go to My Computer > Manage, and format it there.

Unless you're talking about reinstalling Windows on the HDD.

Is there any menu or "Push X button for Setup" when you turn on the computer (even normally)?

No. It only shows the screen saying Windows XP and under that the loading bar...

If there's no option to get into BIOS to change the boot order, you can't boot from CD...
If floppies automatically take boot priority, you could try this. Other than that, I don't know.

I pressed F11 while the computer was starting and was able to boot from the cd. Thanks for your help, I'll +rep when I can (I just +repped someone one my graphic card problem topic >.>).

Deleting all files is not the same thing as formatting.
Problem was resolved anyway, it was more based on the inability to boot to the XP install CD.

if he did that, he'd still have a problem booting off the CD to reinstall Windows...
