Is there any way to change the CPU Name as it shows to you in System Properties in XP? Eg. I want to change it from Intel(R) Pentium M(R) ... to something like Intel(R) Shifty PC, etc.

CPUID is encoded directly in the CPU (EAX=1 to call it from assembly). You might be able to manipulate the view of it in Windows though. I don't really see why anyhow.

Edit: Actually, after messing around in the registry, there is the "ProcessorNameString" registry string that you can change to your preferences.

HKLM/HARDWARE/DESCRIPTION/System/CentralProcessor/0 (or 1, 2, 3, etc.)

@Superweapons

If you just change the name will it effect the system itself?
