Okay so im building a computer, ill list the parts and hopefully someone like humper or karakawe can tell me the recommended power supply:
Case is Antec twelve hundred
Proccessor is Intel E8400
MotherBoard is ) GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3L
Video Card is powercooler radeon 4850
Memory is kingston 4GB 2x2\
HardDrive is ) SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1TB
Operating System is Vista 64 bit home premium SP1
Dvd/CD drive is LG Black 22X (CAV)

So what is the recommended power supply wattage and how can i tell if a power supply is compatible with the case?

Here's what I always refer to if I'm unsure.
Your build shouldn't use too much power at all (little over 250W?), but I would recommend you go with a 400+ for overclocking/adding components later on. (Second video card? Very Happy)
The PSU doesn't really have to be "compatible" to the case, per se. They're likely to all fit in a normal ATX form factor case. You'd have to check if you got a Mini or Micro ATX case for smaller computers, but you probably won't have any problems finding one for the Three Hundred

the case is the twelve hundred, and the calculate power usage site said 498W, you think this will be ok? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817162017

it is 600W and only $35

Whoops @ the Twelve Hundred, but it's the same deal. On the PSU calculator site, it shouldn't be over 300W with the CPU at stock clock.
That particular PSU is quite cheap, but reviews aren't all that bad. Just remember, you always get what you pay for.

The Broadway Com has horrible amperage on the 12v rail. The Rosewill doesn't do so badly, though a more "trusted" company such as Antec, Ultra, or Corsair would be the best.

You'd probably only need a 450W PSU that supplies a good ~28A on the 12v rail.

Don't look at the total wattage. Look at the amps on the 12v rail(s). 30+ amps on the 12v rail is recommended for the 4850.
