Lately, even though I have had this problem for as long as I can remember, for random reasons that I know nothing about my computer gets a blackscreen and it says no signal. So I have to go into standby mode and back, but some times (most of the time) it will go back into the black screen. I've had about 6 black screens while typing this.

Are you sure it's software-related? Burn a live Linux disk and try to boot to it. (Wow, that's my answer to a lot of things lately. Razz)

He never said it was software related and what would that have to do with a black screen?

Edit.

if it's hardware related, you would have problems even in the linux live distro. if you don't have the problems, it's a software related issue in windows.

karakawe <3 linux live distros.

you could always try the monitor on another computer, and the other computer's monitor on your current computer and observe the results. by the way, linux live distros don't require an installation, they're basically an OS running off a CD.
