Anyone have it already? I wonder if it's worth upgrading to SP2

There were threads on this a while back when it came out.
If you're happy with Vista SP1's performance as-is, wait for it to come out of beta.

I've had it for a month already. It was leaked a long time ago.

There aren't many new improvements, performance-wise. Most of the updates are for functionality, for example the improved WiFi and integrated Blu-Ray burning capability.

From past experiences with microsoft I would stay away from any OS-related beta's.

The reason for this is they don't fix half the bugs untill they stop supporting the OS. Many of XP's bugs and vulnerabilities were never patched, yet the support for xp is due to end in 6 months.

That being said, I'm expecting a lot of Windows 7. Razz

It sounds good! But so did vista....

But, we had win2000 good, win me bad, xp good, vista bad.

So following that pattern 7 should be good Very Happy

Hah. Well, I used the beta for a short while and it's fairly decent. They don't usually get worse from beta to final, so I'll probably be buying it. Razz

It should, since it was announced in '07 as a 3-year project. Sweet deal with the college thing. What school does that?

Clover park technical in WA,usa.
I'm taking a computer and network security class, and the curriculum was made by the government among other agencies, so MS opted in to give people taking the class a ton of free software.

99% of it I'm never gonna use, but I have it just in case xd

lol win7 beta?
I tried that shite and it sucked for me, couldn't get any image mounting software working at all, explorer crashed a lot and the so called "lower resource usage" isn't very great, uses almost the same as vista.
I installed a corporate xp x64 and I think I'll stick to this now.

I can run Win7 Build 6956 on my Sony with 512MB of RAM and a 2.4GHz P4 CPU. I would like to see Vista (SP1, SP2, SP*) run on 512MB of RAM.

We know Windows 7 runs on less resources than Vista. That's pretty much the idea.
@The_noob, why the hell would you use a beta version of Windows as a main OS? Sounds pointless to me.
