|
|
Well, this is going to be my second time building a computer (first time was with my brother, but he did all the work) and now my brother moved to Cali, so I can't really contact him much. I want to know how I know which motherboards and stuff are compatible with each other.
Also, what are some good motherboards?

Umm.. lol. Can you elaborate please? xD I heard Intel Motherboards are pretty reliable, though I don't know what to get.

Get the P45 chipset Gigabyte board, or for more options and a tad less overclockability, get the Asus P5Q Pro. Get a C2D or C2Q with it and a good ATI video card. What's your budget?

Yes exactly right here, ATI just lowered their prices, he should wait like a few days before buying them

1200 USD, is MORE then enough, and the advice you guys are giving him is redundent,
1. choose amd or intel
2. for intel builds... might as well burn your money and go to hell, unless your rich enough to afford the best, amd usually beats for price to performance
3. depending on your decision to buy a video card or not, it'll change your mobo, integrated amd 790GX chipsets > all integrated atm.
intels just suck.
4. the memory capacity will change depending on 32 or 64 bit, but I can't remember if it's only for server mobos or what not.
As for the intel boards... they have the most expensive but the sweetest like the skulltrail,

There's nothing wrong with going Intel for a build, let me just say that first. While AMD beats Intel in price:performance, Intel still outperforms with chips that fit into xVi's budget. There is not question of buying a video card or not here, since his budget is $1200 (I'm assuming USD).
Intels do NOT suck, but I'm looking forward to the new AMD processors (xVi, if you're interested, you could wait for them to come out ).
The most memory a 32-bit Windows operating system can use is a little over 3GB. There's no reason not to get a 64-bit OS installed on this build, a benchmark shows Vista x64 as 10% faster than the 32-bit Vista on the same hardware.

Well, not really, I can go over that, just hoping to go under that.
Karakawe wrote: | Including a monitor or no? |
Yeah, I'll be getting a new monitor.
Okay, so I'll go with an Intel Motherboard, but how can I know if it's compatible with other things?

Oh. Can you link me to those? Preferably Newegg? Thanks. I found the processor, but not the other stuff.
