|
|
Recently I've been worried about my hard drive space being low, but then I realised, I have much less than I should. When I select all in C drive and then choose properties, 139gb shows. My HDD's total space is 270gb, but it only shows 88 gb free.
Halp?

They are called partitions
Go to computer
Then right click
Select manage
Go to hard drive manager or something
And look if there are multiple partitions

You probably just have a RAW partition laying around.
Format it to NTFS and rejoin them.

My partitions are fine.
If you do the maths, my 270gb partition - the space I'm using leaves alot missing.
If it matters, I have a 270gb partition for Windows and 30gb for Ubuntu.

I know of a virus that shrinks your Hard Drive space, then slowly makes it go back up..... It is some kind of prank. Have you downloaded and files recently?

Its happened to my friend and thats what I found.
I used acronis disk director and saw the RAW partition laying around, split off. Don't know if its the same in your case, but that was the only time I dealt with missing HDD space.
try doing chkdsk /f?

I did a scan and nothing was picked up(Trend Micro), did a chkdsk and check gparted for any raw space, nothing.
Reformatting's really not an option, this install is less than 2 weeks old.
