|
|
I just installed Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit, but when i look in taskmanager>performances it tells me it only uses 3.3gigs of ram :S
Thats exactly the same as when i use a 32 bit OS
Is this normal or what?

It should be able to read the correct amount of the memory you have.
I have Vista Home Prem. 32-bit, and it reads my 4gigs fine.

64-bit should take use of the 8GB RAM it can handle, but in your case, 4, but it still seems wierd. I'm sorry, I cant provide you with an answer. :/

Buy Vista Ultimate 64bit, that is just fuckin stupid!
All 64bit version of Vista except for Starter Edition supports more than 4GB of ram.
If you are using 64bit and cannot see your full size amount then it will be 2 things.
1. In the bios, if the "memory remap feature" is disabled, enable it.
2. Your motherboard chipset is limited to 4GB.
e.g. Intel 945P is limited so it sees less than 4GB no matter if you use Vista 64bit.

I think he is saying the Vista recognizes 4gb but it is using 3gb... Like it is ACTUALLY using 3gb out of the 4gb. As in, in use. As in, it could use 1gb more if it felt like it.
I don't know why it would, i don't know... I think i might be wrong.

That is because every motherboard bios will use a different name for it.
What mobo do you have and what it's model number?
