When I try to reformat, this always happens:
"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on this computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on correctly blah blah blah"
Do I have to do something in BIOS to fix this? Thanks.

It's most likely have to do with the way your hard drive is setup.
And yes it's has something to do with the bios.
Btw is it a brand name machine?

are you trying to downgrade from vista to xp?
anyway, you can simply slipstream your hdd drivers into a disc and burn it, then boot off that. this happened for me downgrading from vista to xp (not my computer), and was an easy fix.

Um, no. I have XP, just trying to reformat since I have this weird virus that I can't fix.
If you can fix this though, then I won't need to reformat.

i'm not sure what virus that is, but you should be able to fix your problem by slip-streaming drivers to the xp disc, unless you want to play with your BIOS.

Eh, I rather not because I don't really know what to look at in BIOS, can you show me how to slip-stream?

It's either set to RAID or ACHI and you will need those driver diskettes.
The other way is to disable it in the bios or change it back to standard SATA.

use nlite to slip-stream. it's easy to use, just click a button to add drivers and keep pressing next. make sure you have your original xp disc to make the disc with.
as kls mentioned, you're going to need the drivers for ACHI, or whatever your hdd requires.

How can he slipstream if he has no idea what drivers to slipstream?
There are tons of hdd drivers.
Just go into the bios, look at the SATA settings and change it!

Oh sh-
I've seen something about RAID I think. IDK where, but I've seen it like something failed to load or something. RAID driver I think.

you can extract drivers from your current windows installation.
and not everyone wants to mess with their BIOS. if you want to sound so smart, be more specific and tell him exactly what to change and to what.
