There's 2048028402480 other threads just like this one.
Why can't you just look at one of those 2048028402480 others?

Well for "Editing games" i would suggest learning reverse engineering and ASM.
for other stuff i would suggest learning C++, good luck.

Sorry but you sound silly, i mean why not make a working AI instead, that would probably take as much time as what you want to be able to do.
Let me explain why, you want to play and balance your personal reasearch on gamehacking, modding, building servers lol, and real life studies.
making your own edition of some (1) game will require you to do alot of reversing, and i mean ALOT, that's not all you need to know. programming, you must know it very well. Reversing to such level will take years, because alot of shit is packed so you will probably have to learn that to, there are people specializing in ONLY this area and they do it for alot (5+ and more years) and still can't unpack new packers without spending a good deal of time to analyze it. Also modding to do some modding , not shitty texture changes, you will need a team, or alot of time, not as much if you are skilled in programming.
The last thing, building your own servers...just give it up, seriously.
Now you know basically nothing, studies will take alot of your time how long your course lasts? 3? 4 years? if you are good student you won't have too much time for all these other things, so you can probably take like 2 years out of context, now do the calculations, in my opinion to be able to do all these things you will need like 7 years if you are serious like a decade if not so serious. Anyway i don't think you will reach that far anyway.
Start where you are now, with CE, do some basic gamehacking since you know nothing (i read the other thread about you). In parallel you can start picking up coding, which language fits you , only you can answer that. And continue to improve, forget all servers , modding and other stuff its impossible for you at the moment. Im just being realistic

Just fucking pick a language, learn the basics, do some reading, work on projects, etc.
If making games is your idea, the Quake series is 100% open source now (save for Quake 4, which wasn't in house), so you can look at that.
Or you can look at Unreal, even Half Life, while they don't expose the engine source, everything else is open for your fucking around.
All Quake game code is within C, as far as I know. Unreal uses it's open scripting language, UnrealScript; which is sort of like Java. Half Life 2 has all the game code written in C++, but some mods have added LUA support.

| Most game engines are designed in C or C++. There are also libraries that are released and can be used on other platform languages such as C# and more.
