Suddenly my computer BSOD'ed and restarted, I think this was caused by me trying to update to Vista SP2.

After using my computer playing CS:S,going on MSN and downloading some songs on limewire my computer got a BSOD again and now if i turn it on it will get till the windows loading screen and BSOD again! I can't even get into safe mode because it just restarts after loading all the files.

Could it be because I have a faulty pirated version of Vista? Or maybe because it new and the people who built it messed up?

Most BSODs on regularly stable computers are caused by faulty RAM. Re-seat it or run Memtest86+ to see if it's the source of the BSODs.

That could very likely be the case, though I'm not 100% sure. If it did not come straight from Microsoft, there is always a good chance that it's flawed...but then again, even if it did come from Microsoft, there's a good chance that it's flawed Razz

If you cannot get this fixed, and you have very important files on the drive that you have to have, I would recommend booting your computer up with a live CD, such as Knoppix, transfer all your files onto a thumb drive, then reinstall Windows.

I JUST had the same problem and switched to XP. I also had a pirated copy of vista but I don't think that's the only thing causing the problem

this, or possibly PSU
there's many things that can cause BSOD/RSOD but contrary to popular belief, it's usually always bad hardware/drivers.

Try to boot into safe mode first.

Otherwise, your install probably got hosed.

If that fails, I'd try memtest86+ overnight.
