Here are my computer specs.

When I tried to buy 1 GB RAM from Best Buy today, the guy told me that I would have to buy 2 1GB RAM sticks. He said that if my comptuer only has 1 GB ram, then the factory should've shipped with 2 512mb RAM sticks in my computer opposed to just a single 1 GB stick and an empty slot. Is there anyway to confirm this without opening up my computer? And if it really is 2 512MB RAM sitting there, do I have to buy 2 1GB RAM sticks like the guy suggested?

Do like this:
Open up your computer and check if theres only one stick.
IF SO, buy 240pin ram sticks and with the correct speed.
Most premade computer got 2x 512mb (if they got 1gb in total).

I can't post links.
Even did it for him, but I wonder why they use an nvidia chipset :O?
Those were really crappy.

Nah. My processor is a Intel Core 2 Duo. And I think my chipset is an ATI Xpress 200. So basically, all the RAM underneath are compatible with my motherboard?

yup, and you probebly don't know what chipset is but i'll explain fast due I have to sleep.
Chipset is the maker of the motherboard, you could say it like that.
Nvidia makes, intel makes and amd makes.
Nvidia uses intel processors on it.
