yeah its your power supply or a wiring problem. Open up your computer and make sure all power button connections are good.

I know what you did. You had your computer on and you yanked out the AC cord, then you plug it back in quick and tried to turn it on.The fan spins for like half a second then turns off.

Here's what you do.

Unplug AC again. Then press the power button so it does that 1 second turn on thing .

Then plug it back and and it should POST.

Your PSU is most likely the problem. Try yanking your PSU to at least 500W. Or if it is an old computer (most likely) than get something lower.

Check the CPU fan to make sure it's working properly, and check to make sure there's no shorts anywhere. Try clearing the CMOS.

This also happened to me, but, all I did, was just turned off everything and unplugged the AC cord, and turned off the power switch on the Power Supply. Then, I turned on the Power Supply switch and plugged the AC cord back in and it worked. Weird, but it worked.

Its not a fix though is it. It sounds to me as if the capacitors are bad in the PSU. Replace it.

My computer does this to me as well, but the only time it does do this is when I did not shut it down properly. Say the power went out at my house and my computer was on? Next time I go to turn it on, it will switch on for about two seconds, the fans will begin to spin, and then it shuts off. All I have to do is hit the power button again, and then I'm good to go.
