How do I cheat?

Ok, so there is this game, which I am sure some of you know about, called GunZ, and I am trying to attach the debugger of Cheat Engine 5.3 to it, but every time I do it says:
| Code: | | Cheat Engine failed to attach to the process. (Error=5) |
Now, this game uses an Anti-Hack program known as X-Trap; up until this afternoon I was using Cheat Engine 5.2, and I was able to attach the debugger to the game.
As of right now DLL injection is possible, but will crash the game due to CRC checks, xtrapapi.dll, and whatnot, but, with that aside, you can still hack the game by modifying registers at certain addresses.
Just a few moments ago I tried using Cheat Engine 5.2 to attach the debugger to GunZ, and I was able to, but when I try it with 5.3, I get that error message. What's the deal?

check your settings and make sure the kerneldebugger and other options are enabled

I get the same thing every time no matter what I do. I have the same options enabled as 5.2, but it doesn't make a difference.
I would post a thumbnail but the forum doesn't allow me, yet.

| I went ahead and re-installed it from scratch, and it solved the problem--the odd thing is, is that I did that two other times and it didn't.
