How do I cheat?

A while ago, I downloaded Cheat Engine. It worked fine. I had to delete it, and now I've re-installed it. But now, whenever i do a scan I always get this Error Message:

Extreme Scan failed! The remote scan routine didn't tell me how to cancel the scan, which makes me to believe the scan never started.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

try reinstalling again, perhaps a file got blocked.
or go to settings and disable "use hyperscan when possible"
