Overpriced. No one is going to buy them. You know, except people who sleep and bathe in money. It would just be better to buy a high end quad. (Not the extreme)

I wonder if anyone on this board is going to buy it. Probably not.

I was saving up to get one at launch, but I've changed my mind. I game on my consoles now, and I don't use the computer enough anymore to justify it. I'm putting the money into my home theater instead.

The processor pricing is decent, but factor in other needed parts and that cost goes up even further.
Quote: | Documents from Intel Corp. allegedly seen by a web-site earlier this month reportedly mention that Intel Core i7 processor 965 (3.0GHz) delivers 52% speed improvement in 3D games |
...every review I've seen shows the excelling in benchmarks... then barely going anywhere in games.

No one said this cpu will improve game performance. Since people who visit this forum mostly games on their machines, they assume a new cpu means a increase in gaming performance. Well it seems that is not the case, but this does not mean Intel will have a hard time selling it. Others may find this cpu very attracive.
And CEF could use a nice Core i7 system for handling their database.
For those what don't have a system yet or planning get a new one go with the Core i7.
For those who already got a Core 2, skip the Core i7 and wait until the next cpu change comes out before deciding on a upgrade or do a whole system change.
Conroe=Tock (architectural change)
Penryn=Tick (minor changes and improvments from Conroe, like die shrink)
Nahalem=Tock
Westmere=Tick
SandyBridge=Tock
Ivy Bridge=Tick
