I recently reinstalled my windows vista because it was having problems, and now when i tried to activate it it says that i have an invalid keycode,

Does this mean i will have to buy a new code, or is there anyway i can get mine to work?

If you originally had a legit keycode, it may have reached its activation limit. In which case just give microsoft a ring, they should sort you out no problems. This is all too common. On the other hand, your windows version might be different to what it used to be, or you have installed a service pack which has rendered that key useless. This is also common. Give em a call. Alternative methods such as serials/cracks/patches are not to be discussed on this forum.

ok ill call but its the same version, havent installed a SP because if i do my CPU will crash and i used the same disk that i used when i installed vista the first time

how do i call them for free? all the options i found i had to pay like $50 just to call

EDIT: I found a number for the microsoft office like A Half and hour away from me, lol

You have to go through the activation process and select the telephone method.

Click start>Right click on computer and select properties.
You will now be presented with your system specs and the version of Vista that you have. Now scroll to the bottom of that page and you should see
your activation status, click on the link for activation and select the telephone method.

Select the country you live in and the number they provided.
