Either a new processor (Q6600 is around your budget i believe, dunno if your mainboard can handle it) or more ram+new GPU

Nope, it's an HP computer. They lock all the overclocking stuff in the bios.

you could just buy a new mobo and OC your current CPU
if your gfx is fine keep it and buy something like another 2Gb of RAM and maybe another HDD
depends what area you need a performance boost in
btw: you're going to need a new mobo anyway if you want to add an intel CPU

i'd recommend gigabyte s series boards (you need an AM2 socket)
edit: better cooling = better OCing results too look for something flat and copper that covers the full surface of CPU and use good silver thermal compound

You have an AMD board...
How do you expect to run a Q6600 on it?
So if you want the Q6600 your going to have to get a new motherboard anyway.
I suggest another stick of RAM.

This.
I kept hearing Q6600, but no one noticed that he has a AM2 socket board.
This is a great AM2 Socket CPU.
