So I was going to get a new computer, and I was wondering if I should get a desktop or a laptop. I've never had a laptop and it looks like it'd be cool to have. But I've heard that desktops have like 4x the ram. Also, I don't know what computer brand I should buy (anything but apple). Any suggestions?
Thanks

4x the ram?
A 3GB ram lenovo is only 700$
The problem lies with the heat, low battery times and usually shitty IGPs.
I'd rather just get a new desktop.

For what you pay for a decent laptop you could get a great desktop.

Ask yourself if you seriously need that kind of mobility. No, it's not cool to be ripped off by getting a laptop when a desktop fits all your needs.
Yes, there are other areas of interest that should weigh in your decision, but for "normal", casual users, it's more price and functions vs. mobility, rather than "Which one will earn me more 3DMark points".

If your on the move alot and only use computer to search web and stuff then go for a laptop.
If your going to do some hardcore gaming, video encoding, photoshoping etc defentily go with a desktop.
Preferbly build one your self.
Desktops will have much much much better spesifications for the same price as the laptop....
