What kind of memory? (SDRAM, DDR, DDR2, etc)
What memory speed? (e.g. PC2-6400)
What's the CPU speed?
Is the CPU quad core, dual core or single core?
What's your current graphics card?
What kind of graphics interface does your board support? (AGP / PCI-e)
Does your board support SLI?
What game are you trying to play?
Answer those questions, then I'll have more to say.

it's going to depend on the rest of your hardware, but having 756mb RAM suggests you have quite an old computer and may end up being better to buy a new computer.

Buying a new computer is more likely the best option instead of upgrading bad computer items

You can get a computer for around $400 US which has a C2 Duo, ATI/nVIDIA card, 120GB SATA, etc.

If you have an old CPU and slow RAM, a graphics card will help somewhat, but it will still be bottlenecked by the rest of the hardware. Buying hardware for an old interface that can't utilize it is throwing away money, and you won't be able to move it to your new hardware when you upgrade.
