Well I've got Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit right now and I want Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit and Windows XP (Any version).
Everytime i try to install WinVista Ultimate or a version of WinXP i get an error.
A friend of mine says: Well, thats Vista.
Will it work when i format the whole HDD and then try to install WinXP?
I need to be 100% sure because I don't have a legal copy of WinVista (It's an Acer pc and they dont give a winvista dvd with it)
So does anyone know for 100% sure that when i format my hdd i will be able to install WinXP? _________________

There's nothing we can do to help unless you tell us what error message you get..
Oh and don't you have a "backup" drive on your pc?
prebuild PC's usually have those.. they are used to re-install the OS _________________

Look, you have to be more specific..
but CHKDSK /F means defragment,
I can't see that affecting the installation.
Have you tried re-installing the OS from the "backup" drive?
(usually the drive is locked.. so formatting might not even work) _________________

Since you got yourself an Acer PC then you'll will most likely have a legal version of Vista. Check around the outside of your case and see if there is a COA label. The label will say the type of Vista version you have along with your 25 unique product key.
A 32bit version of Vista cannot be upgraded to 64bit and vice versa. You will need to do a clean install if you want 64bit, however you may upgrade to a 32bit version of Ultimate by running the Windows Anytime upgrade or doing a in-place upgrade.
Anytime upgrade requires your system to be activated before you do the upgrade and all it does is add the additional features in Ultimate to your Home Premium. In-place upgrade replaces the whole OS thus takes a quite bit of time for the install.
Now for dual booting...
XP must go in first and then Vista because if you install XP after Vista, then Vista will not load. _________________

All OEM system these days does not come with the Vista Disc, even if it did then it will most likely be the the recovery disc instead of stand-alone Vista. _________________
