I have an Asus M2N-MX SE Plus motherboard, and the PC Probe utility that came with it is constantly giving me warnings about my MB temp. For example, after playing Halo 2 it was at 48degrees C.

I think the warning minimum must be at like, 45C. What do you guys get, and what is it supposed to be at? Also, I just installed an 8600GT GPU that's inevitably heating it up. Do i need more cooling?

Cheers,

You can NEVER have enough cooling...
I have 2 Lab-top fan's tapped up to the sides of my Computer and have the cover removed... maximum ventalation = longer life-span.

Another answer to this would be try closing some programs that are running ( ex: Ctrl, Alt, Delete all at once ).
This should bring up the Task Manager that allows you to end programs. but becareful what you end!!!

However this will just stop the programs currently running, when you restart they will run again.
To stop this open up the RUN screen and type in, MSconfig, and you can change the settings on there to keep programs from running when you start up.

Hope this helps!

i dont see how you get that with two fan's strapped to it...
I kinda figured it would offer more circulation while with the cover on it all mainly vents-out the back.
But lets not start a catfight :p

Some motherboards has this special layer that helps dissipate heat. Asus has it on their premium models and calls it "StackCool 2" and they claim it can reduce the temp by as much as 20C. Rolling Eyes

So far I have not seen a single independent review about it which proves this claim. Confused
