im building a PC and i'm wondering whether to build it around an AMD phenom 9550 or intel core2 quad Q6600

suggestions?

He is right, they seriously are. You might get an AMD fanboy coming in here saying they are better since they have true 4 cores... but that doesnt matter. IMO 4 cores is 4 cores, no matter how you add them up ( 1+1+1+1, 2+2 )

Just get the Q6600.

im probably getting an 8600GT or better since i want to play alot of games, i haven't heard much about ATI.
unfortunately(?) VISTA is going on it too cause i want to try directX10 Very Happy

I would consider ATI if it had drivers for Linux/good drivers etc...

Also, now i am not sure you cant easily say it is cheaper and faster, but you could say it has a good/better price to performance ratio.

I've read that the Ati Radeon HD4850 is 20% better than a GeForce 9800GT
