To everyone who dislikes Windows Vista, I realize everyone does have their own opinions.
But frankly ;
Vista is a great operating system, I've been using it since Milestone 5, and have had no issues.
Just because an operating system has features that YOU don't use, doesn't mean somebody else will use them.
User Account Control, which CAN be disabled, and seems to piss off so many, is to prevent customers that are not tech-savvy from unintentionally activating a virus, and asks them if they want to continue, so it's STUPID-PROOF.
Windows Defender is a BASIC security program, that's why NOD32, Kaspersky, etc. all exist as alternate choices for an antivirus.
Stop bashing an operating system because you don't use all the features in it, or because it has features that annoy you.
Learn how to
A] Fix it
B] Live with it
or C] Shut the fuck up.
XP was complained about just as much as Vista when people were afraid to convert from Windows 2000.
Grow up, shut the fuck up about Windows Vista, it works perfectly fine.

I agree,
Everyone has there own opinnion and my opinion is vista ftw.
BTW PPL.
Anot just XP and Vista but HEAPSSSSS of OS's always have problems no matter how many yours of beta testing.
Xp came out, ppl thought of it as ram hogger, just new loooks....
Windows 98 Came Out, ppl thought of it as an expensive upgrade to 95.
Windows 95 came out, ppl thought of it as rubish and they quikly remade the OS due to so many rubish complaints.

problems i have with vista
driver support my scanner cant work with vista same with some other hardware
it takes 10gigs of room just for the os itself
vista defrag shows no shittin detail at all
readyboost is just crap
no open with option when right clicking a file
what i like about vista boots up very fast and shuts down very fast.
booting up is faster than my xp parition but shutdown is the same since i tweaked xp shutdown to be fast.
it has parental control for parents unlike xp
learning from vista is good for people learning about computer
Conclusion is there is not worst operating system. There are people who love Vista and people who hate it just deal with it. Vista mostly runs fine on my os but i need xp to survive so i dual boot.

| The only bad thing about vista is program incompatibility and kernel security.

I dislike Vista after having to deal with installing 20 games onto 20 pc's while I was helping my friend set up his lan gaming store.
God that was a pain in the ass.
Not to mention that the program used to keep track of everyone's user id and other info had compatibility issues with Vista and you end up with a whole lot of fun and headaches.

just thought i'd fix that for you. i also think if microsoft didn't come up with so many different versions of vista, then people wouldn't complain as much. i personally don't think that it's a bad OS, i think that some hardware companies, although, need to make better drivers for vista.

Exactly.
Microsoft gave companies TWO YEARS to create drivers for Vista, and then 6 months more when Vista was delayed, and hardly ANY COMPANY decided to create drivers for Vista.
Don't blame VISTA for software incompatibility, blame the SOFTWARE COMPANIES THAT ARE TOO LAZY TO WRITE DRIVERS.
Vista Basic sucks.
Home Premium sucks, but it's idiot-proof by locking you out of most features.
I would either use Business or Ultimate.
I use Ultimate.

i used a free vista business upgrade, with a drivers disc for my specific laptop, and still the hotkeys wouldn't work properly unless i modified them, and still then, i had problems with the drivers. the updated drivers still weren't any better! also wanted to add that vista's gui is awesome and a lot better than xp's.

Also, Vista is much more secure than XP.
Loads more features.
And the reason Vista is 'slow' [Not really, it runs perfectly fine on my old P4]
Is because VISTA WAS NOT MADE FOR OLD HARDWARE.
Vista was DESIGNED for MULTI-CORE USE, along with MORE THAN 2 GB RAM, 2 GB being the MINIMUM to run it decent.

Right click, properties, tick "Run this program in compatability mode for," choose Windows XP Service Pack 2.
That's all you need to do.

| UAC is completely useless, I can't believe anyone would say it makes Vista more secure. Making you click "OK" a million times does nothing, because every single time I've seen a stupid person using it, they just get annoyed and click "OK" without reading it. So really, by compounding stupid behavior even more, I'd say it makes the OS less secure.

| If you run a x64 OS, especially Vista (PatchGuard), you don't need any Anti-Virus. You cannot get malware and rootkits and all that bad stuff on x64. It will not run. Worst thing is you get a BSOD once. No biggy. The Anti-Viruses do NOTHING. On Vista, they can't even load their driver(s).
