Ok I don't know about downgrading from Vista to XP, which in my mind was incredibly stupid. Try right clicking the battery on the bottom right. Or look at control panel. I don't have a XP computer handle so I can't look for you. Maybe it's because it's been downgraded.

Inside 'Control Panel' should be an icon to load the 'Power Options' control panel. If there is no icon there, you can also find it in:
C:\Windows\System32 the file you are looking for is called 'powercfg.cpl'.
I attached mine if you don't have it.

firstly, if hibernation on your computer is disabled then open up a command prompt and type the following:
| Code: | | powercfg /hibernate on |
now go into control panel, open up power options and you can change the power scheme under the power schemes tab. next, go to the advanced tab and under power buttons you can chose what happens when the lid of your laptop is closed.
also, people on google aren't always right.
