|
|
I'm having a problem with a fresh install of windows XP,
I just formatted my hard drive, inserted my winXP CD, booted from CD, installing... Approximately 34 minutes untill the installation is finished, BOOM
I get a pop-up that says my onboard-sound drivers aren't certified, continue anyway?
And that's where the problem is. The keyboard and mouse don't react; I can't click yes or no. Both my mouse and keyboard are wired using USB because somehow my computer doesn't have ps2 ports.
I get the dialog while winXP is Installing Devices.
I'm using a Fujitsu siemens with a 3ghz pentium 4, 1g ram and an ATI X1300 series.
How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance

| Have you tried going into your system BIOS and enabling the use of USB devices (keyboards) during startup? It's usually around in the area of "Advanced BIOS features".

It works at the beginning of the Installation, I can see the mouse cursor and move it around during the installation but when it's at 'Installing Devices', the cursor has dissapeared.
Also the keyboard works when it says Press any key to boot from CD...
Also, the computer wasn't originally mine and there's a password on the bios, any way to crack it?

The only way I know of to reset the BIOS password is to reset your BIOS via jumpers or removing the battery (in the motherboard). You might want to refer to this site on steps to doing so (I'm not good at explaining ) :
http://www.dewassoc.com/support/bios/bios_password.htm
If that fails, try removing any PCI expansions you have there, as it may be conflicting with the "Installing Devices" portion of the Windows Setup.
