What compiler do you recommend I use to learn C++? I want something that I will use in the future, and not just something that I get just to learn C++

Are netbeans/eclipse/visual C++ any good? I'm not sure about microsoft products, they always seem bloated. And netbeans I think has a Java interface. Hard to learn C++ when distracted by the fact your compiler is coded in Java.

Why though? You didnt even tell me the benefits of using visual studio. Whats the difference between the express versions and the normal one? Don't you have to pay for the normal version?

Microsoft's compiler is probably one of, if not, the best compiler for C++

Yes you have to pay for the normal / professional versions where as the express edition is free. The express edition is limited to what you can make settings wise and be more annoying then most as it is mostly to prevent you from creating commercial applications with the free software.

I use the Express Edition and I see very little difference between what the full version could offer compared to what I have. But I don't pay for anything, so I would just get warez anyway. I like VC++ because it has many features and options, allows easier project managing, as well as nice syntax highlighting, and you have to love intellisense or w/e it's called..

I'll just use Netbeans with MinGW. I don't like microsoft bloatware or dev-C++ which is a little ugly.

The ported version that Dev-C++ uses of Mingw is outdated and does not use the current build releases of the compiler. As for Microsoft being bloatware, hardly. Their compiler is probably the best for C++ and one of the best for C.

There is plenty different between the various versions.

Express is stripped a good number of useful things.
