Will a graphic card work (display on monitor) w/o installing the driver.

reason why i'm asking this is because i'm build a computer for the first time.

I need to know if the graphic card will display anything on the monitor the first time i plug it in the pci 16x slot.

I know its dumb. But i'm just wondering.

How do you think it displays until you get into windows?

Windows will try to install it's own (which is usually ridiculously out of date), and if it doesn't know what the fuck, it will fall back to a generic VGA driver and run like shit until you install them yourself.

im pretty sure any hardware will work w/o the driver, its just that the driver gives more settings that u can configure.

Lol, any hardware works without the driver. Windows will load a generic driver. For example, if you boot into safe mode, window loads generic drivers.

Lol I was scared on my first build, I popped my 8800GT in and the graphics were shit as i was installing my copy of windows... I started freaking the fuck out until I installed my GPU drivers. Looks sexier than ever Cool

Yea, you'll be good. Your graphics card will come with a CD that has drivers on it.
