Sounds like a problem with the hard drive.

I had recieved a hard drive from newegg that I ordered, formatted with XP, was on for about a day or so, then it turned to shit, so I shut it down and restarted, but it stayed at the windows loading screen.
Turned out to be a defective hard drive.

Maybe your hd has just had enough, go into your bios and see how much capacity it says it has on it, if it even recognizes/finds it at all.

If the PC wont turn on, then how is this helpful?

If it just does nothing when you hit the button, then i'd agree that the power box could be the culprit...maybe a loose connection in there somewhere or you may just need to replace it. If its doing anything at all when you hit th ebutton, say so. Any info is helpful.

If I were him I would rather have my CPU get a check up in the nearest computer shop and ask what is the problem and what do I need to fix it and so on..

No doubt this is the best advice he is going to get. Best case scenario is that its the power box.

If you have another PC there, put the main drive of that comp into the other one and virus scan it, defrag it, and do a S.M.A.R.T. scan of the drive. There are some programs in the sticky that can help you with smart scanning, or you can google for a program.

Post the S.M.A.R.T. scan results here and we can help you interpret what it means.

After that if it looks to be fine, check the psu... It could be that.

Might you have upgraded your computer wrong? I've had similar problems when I was putting in RAM and I accidentally knocked out another module. Make sure all your RAM sticks are in correctly and tightly fit.
