I'll be buying a laptop soon and wanted to know a few things. For a not I will not be buying any individual parts (Excluding RAM)
What are some good laptops out there for under $800? I want this to be a general good laptop but leaning towards gaming. Also what is the best type of RAM to buy for laptops? Also location of the laptop would be helpful. I live in America. Feel free to answer and if there is anything I need to answer let me know.

Well first, you need the type of laptop you want to get the RAM. There isn't really a best type of RAM unless you count the latest one out as the best. It just needs to fit. What you mainly have to look at is processor speed and how much RAM for laptops.

Nowadays, you can build your own laptops (either from ZipZoomFly, or buying barebones + parts).

I personally think that buying laptops from "other" brands (such as iBuyPower and CyberPowerPC) will give you a lot more bang-for-the-buck. Here's an example:
