http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/xpsdt_720?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&~oid=us~en~29~xpsdt_720_anav2~~
My cousin just got this beast, and I'm glad to say with some overclocking, we got this baby running nice. The only bad thing: hard drive space. I mean, we can all use someone space, right? Well it's got a nice processor, decent graphics (nothing like my 9800) and isn't loud at all.

Price: $1,499
Specs:
Intel® Core™2 Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB)
Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition (with re-installation CD)
Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability
3GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 4 DIMMs
250GB1 - Seagate 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 8MB Cache
nVidia GeForce 8800 GT 512MB2
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
NO MONITOR

Or... You could just build it with the same specifications, for considerably less.

2 8800gt's would probably match a 9800gx2's performance or come very close.

DELL must idiot proof the overclocking some how.

Manually building would cost 1.2-1.3k... Sounds like a pretty gewd deal to me.

Not a very good deal. That's $1500. Here's a potential build I put together for a guy here a few weeks ago (updated/re-priced, etc):

Case: Antec 900 - no questions.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz

RAM: 2GB Transcend RAM (get 2 of these)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208344 $71.98
GPU: EVGA 9800GTX 512MB GPU

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128059 $89.99
HDD: SAMSUNG 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152052 $99.99
PSU: Rosewill 500W PSU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182009 $58.99

Not only does it include a great monitor, but literally every aspect of this build is better than the Dell - at only $1215.11, almost $300 cheaper than the Dell.

Prices updated; parts revised.

Self built computer > Dell by a mile. Period.

On a side note, Antec 900s were brought back to newegg, yay!

PSU is shit, get from a more reliable brand and not ghetto ass rosewill.
Ram is shit, there's far better stuff. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146692 for instance.

9800's are worthless, not worth the price gain. They are barely faster over 8800's, and are slower in some cases due to lower bandwidth.

I prefer Seagate or Western Digital HD's.

I wouldn't expect that board to overclock well, you got to pay out the ass for good motherboards these days.

There's better monitors lurking around.

Remember, a lot of the stuff I had before dropped/raised in price, so I quickly switched it out for something a little better.

The motherboard can easily overclock the CPU to 3GHz, it's quite good for being so cheap.

The RAM: Normally I'd look for something better. I switched from the 2GB I had before (which raised in price from about $35 to $85) to 4GB to make a point. I'll admit it wasn't the best choice.

Monitor: This was kind of specific for the person I originally threw this together for a month or 2 ago, so I'll admit I could easily find a better monitor in 5 minutes.

The 9800: I haven't researched much, but it seems the 9800GTX only is better then the 8800GT at higher resolutions, so, you're right, the 8800GT is better.

The PSU: All the reviews say the PSU is great (aside from the 2-3 who's PSU blew up.), so I figure it's good for a 500W PSU. Plus the blue LED goes great with the Antec 900.

The HDD: I haven't bothered to change it. I know there are better out there.

If I were to build a full system from scratch, I'm sure I could make a far better system, but for this I just took what I had from an old text file and changed 2 or 3 parts. The post was mainly to exaggerate the sheer mediocrity of the Dell.

No overclocks are a sure thing, just cause some other guy did it doesn't mean you're going to.

Don't fuck with a PSU, the last thing you want is to be that guy who ends up with a blown one. They LOVE to take a few video cards on the way out, and will happily kill the mobo if you keep it up.

Hardware like that and a 500w budget PSU do not mix. The PSU is the one part you never want to skimp on, ever.

If anyone wanted to know i built that same exact thing but probably with a better case... for 998 USD. Build it, save the 500 dollars for a monitor.
