I am building a new computer for gaming / video editing / game creating / etc.
I already have a graphics card, so I'm just running a check on all my items.

500 GB Western Digital Caviar Hard Drive [2]

HIPER HPU 730W PSU

G.SKILL 2x 2 GB DDR2 800 [2]

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L Rev 2.0 Motherboard

Intel Q6600 Kentsfield Quad Core at 2.4 Ghz

SCYTHE S-FLEX 120 MM Fan [2]

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

Antec 900

I am planning to overclock my Q6600 to 3.2 - 3.4 Ghz,
I think 7 fans, with the side panel detached along with a large fan blowing air into the case should be sufficient, no?

Also, should I overclock the RAM [or attempt to] to 1066?

My budget is 1000$.

The total is 960$ [or so.]

I also got the Silver 5 Cooling Paste.

Any suggestions/criticisms would be appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Where are you expecting to put some of these fans?

There are only 5 REAL places to place fans.

The top 200mm fan (comes with the case) the back panel (comes with the case) the two front fans (come with the case), and the side panel (NO FAN)...

All you really need is one more.

Also, buy a fan for your CPU. Zalman is win.

I have that, I probably wouldn't recommend going that high in GHz with just that though.

I don't know from experience though... I have an AMD =[

Okay... Also just 1 fan... Remember, 1 fan!

It can only hold 5 fans and 4 of them are supplied (1 is under warranty also (200mm))

x]
Well I read about 5948295482495842 pages of reviews, so I think I should be safe at 3.2-3.4
I won't go any higher than that.
And in my opinion, AMD is better for laptops since they are slightly cooler, and laptops are compact.
Intel is a bit more of a heat spreader, and better for desktop builds.
I.E;
AMD=Business/Laptops
Intel=Gaming/etc

Eh.
It all ends up as preference, anyway.
I just prefer Intel x]
I'll be upgrading from a P4 3.0 Ghz with 2 GB of RAM. =X

Mhm.
And I'm future-proofing.
I know 8 GB is kind of pointless at the moment, but may as well since it's incredibly cheap.
Besides, the Q6600 is sexy x]

It's not preference, Intel fucking rapes AMD.

Take it from somebody who made the mistake of getting an AMD.

[Trying to be polite to AMD Razz]
Besides, no AMD means Intel can jack their prices up =X

My overclocked 4400+ idles about 30c. It's never broken mid 40's.

Not stock fan, but it runs pretty cool.

Anyway, Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme + a Noctua 120mm fan is probably the best you can get.
