Nvidia is the leader right now, go with a 8800GT or 9600GT if you are on a budget, the GX2 if you aren't.

Actually, on games that don't support SLI, the 8800GT/S/X gets better fps. The 9800 GX2 has 2 cores in 1 card, much like the dual core CPUs of the day, and the second core isn't utilized by most games, much as how the second CPU core wasn't used much for months after dual core CPUs were released.

Stupid Nvidia foreware drivers. Thats always the letdown.
Its not so much the games, its the driver itself. It never does things its supposed to for a long while. They will have it sorted in a few months i'd say, and the true potential of those new cards will be increased.

Single as in one graphics card, even though there are two cores. I wouldn't get a 9800GX2, because rumors are spreading that the 9900GTX will beat the 9800GX2, and it'll be released in a few months. I'd just like to see how they go against each other, before I buy one (but I won't buy one either way).

No, you should buy whatever gives you the best price/performance at the time. nVidia is on top atm, but they go back and forth. The 3870 is still an excellent value for the mid-range market at $160.

but it only takes up 1 PCI-E slot so it still counts as 1 card

Does anybody know why they didn't make a wire version of the SLI bridge?

Asus for example, so a flexible version, if thats anything like what you mean.
Its very handy when you have a slightly dodgy case that is out of alignment with the mobo, or 2 graphics card of different vendors.

Lol, it packed up after 3 long years and so you switched?
Did you expect a graphics card to work respectively after that period of use?
Especially an older one.... maybe asking too much there Razz
